Preferred Mutual Foundation Names 2016 Scholarship Winners

As the first place winner of the 2016 Preferred Mutual Foundation Scholarship, Cooperstown senior Alexandra Russo will receive $2,500 each year for four years.

The Preferred Mutual Foundation, the corporate-giving arm of Preferred Mutual Insurance Company, has awarded scholarships to two, local, high school students graduating in 2016.  Candidates were evaluated based on their academic strengths, intellectual inquiry, responsibility, community involvement, and demonstrated capacity to excel.

As the first place winner of the 2016 Preferred Mutual Foundation Scholarship, Cooperstown senior Alexandra Russo will receive $2,500 each year for four years.  Russo will be attending the University of Notre Dame in the fall.

The second place winner of the 2016 Preferred Mutual Foundation Scholarship is Dana Eschler of Edmeston. Eschler will receive $1,000 each year for four years, and she will be attending the Rochester Institute of Technology.

The Preferred Foundation and the Company value academic excellence and community involvement, and thus, have been offering these scholarship opportunities to local seniors for more than a decade.  The scholarship money can be applied to tuition, room and board, or other college-related expenses.
