James Almy Joins Preferred Mutual as the Director of Commercial Lines Underwriting

James (Jim) Almy has joined Preferred Mutual Insurance Company (“Preferred Mutual”) as the Director of Commercial Lines Underwriting. In his new role, Jim will be responsible for overseeing the strategy and production of the Commercial Lines Business Unit including product advancement and initiatives, pricing, research and development, and risk analysis.

Jim has more than 20 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, having served in a number of P&C underwriting positions. Prior to joining Preferred Mutual, Jim was an Underwriting Manager for a national program. He also previously served as the Commercial Lines Underwriting Supervisor, as well as Senior/Account Commercial Lines Underwriter for a large regional carrier. 

Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. He holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Associate in Underwriting (AU) designations.
