Raymond (Ray) Muller has joined Preferred Mutual as Vice President, Chief Actuary and Data Analytics. In his new role, Muller will be instrumental in using actuarial pricing, rate indications, predictive modeling, and data analytics to support and drive product initiatives and corporate strategy.
“We live in a fast-paced, data-driven society and the insurance industry is no exception,” said Jeff Lopata, Preferred Mutual’s Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. “Risk is inherent to insurance, and in today’s world, it’s imperative to derive and deliver business value from data. Ray has exceptional analytical skills, and we will look to him to help us calculate risks and premiums, as well as develop creative ways to tackle new and emerging risks.”
Muller brings more than 30 years of experience in actuarial science within property and casualty insurance, and over 10 years in the predictive analytics space. He has broad experience in pricing across product lines, having served as a VP and Actuary at Selective Insurance and holding Actuary roles with GreatLand Insurance, Nationwide Insurance, and the National Council on Compensation Insurance.
Muller earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Niagara University in New York. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
