Preferred Mutual Proudly Supports the New Berlin Firehouse
NEW BERLIN, NY (August 4, 2020) — Preferred Mutual (“Preferred Mutual”) Insurance Company proudly presented the Village of New Berlin’s Mayor, Terry Potter, with its $150,000 donation to the New Berlin Firehouse project.

New Berlin Mayor, Terry Potter, has said this project is a dream come true for the New Berlin community. With the help of Preferred Mutual’s $150,000 donation, residents will be provided a new, 7,000 square-foot firehouse with six garage bays, offices, meeting rooms and training area. The new facility will also include modern health and safety features such as hazardous showers for firemen and an exhaust ventilation system. After experiencing a few delays, construction is slated to begin later this year.

The project has been the result of many local businesses, including the Chobani Foundation, Golden Artist Colors Inc, NBT Bank, New Berlin Pizzeria, and Gates-Cole Insurance, and local government agencies banding together to showcase their support for the community.

Founded in 1896 as the Preferred Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Chenango County, our local firefighters have been our closest allies in educating families on fire prevention and safety. And today, “we’re proud to be able to make a difference by giving back to the community and industry that has served us so well for over 100 years,” said Preferred Mutual’s president and chief executive officer, Chris Taft.
