Preferred Mutual Insurance Company has collaborated with the American Heart Association to provide New Mom Kits to Bassett Healthcare Network, supporting the health and well-being of mothers and newborns in the Mohawk Valley region.
The kits were presented at Bassett Healthcare Network’s FoxCare Center in Oneonta and will be shared between Women’s Health services in Cooperstown and the FoxCare Center. The initiative brings together healthcare providers, community partners, and nonprofit organizations to help families navigate the important early days following childbirth.
Preferred Mutual donated diaper bag backpacks containing supplies for new parents, and the American Heart Association contributed additional resources focused on maternal health and infant safety, including a blood pressure cuff with information on self-measured blood pressure monitoring, heart health resources for pregnancy, and information on local support programs such as Medicaid and WIC. Each kit also includes an Infant CPR Anytime kit that allows multiple caregivers to learn the lifesaving skills of CPR.
“At Preferred Mutual, we care deeply about the communities we serve,” said Pauline Ashworth, Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at Preferred Mutual Insurance Company, and a member of the Mohawk Valley Board of Directors of the American Heart Association.“Welcoming a new child is a joyful time for families, and we’re grateful to work with the American Heart Association and Bassett Healthcare Network to help provide resources that support moms and babies during this important moment in their lives.”
